So, how to make organic fertilizer? Let's take a look at the standard organic fertilizer manufacturing process.

Raw materials

Prepare raw materials such as livestock and poultry manure, straw, rice husks, mushroom residues, kitchen waste, sludge, humic acid, etc.

Pretreatment

Clean and crush some raw materials. Mix the feces and auxiliary materials evenly. Adjust the water content so that the water content of the mixture is controlled at 50%~60%.

Fermentation

Fermentation in trough, windrow or reactor. Regularly turn the pile (once every 2-3 days) or force ventilation to maintain oxygen content ≥5%.

Crushing

Use a semi-wet material fertilizer crusher or chain crusher to crush the fermented agglomerated material to a fineness of ≤5mm.

Granulation

The crushed materials are extruded under high pressure to form 2~6mm fertilizer granular. A rounding machine can be selected to improve the roundness of the granules.

Drying

Use a drum dryer with hot air temperature of 80~120℃. After drying, the moisture content of the particles is ≤12%~15% to avoid subsequent mildew.

Coating

To prevent caking and slow-release nutrients, coating technology can be selected, that is, spraying mineral oil or biodegradable film materials (such as starch-based coating) on ​​the fertilizer particles.

Cooling and sieving

The counter-current cooler is used to cool down to room temperature to reduce the risk of hot storage. The vibrating screen is used for classification, and qualified particles are packaged, and the powder is returned for granulation.

Packaging and storage

The packaged products are automatically weighed (25kg/bag or ton bag) and sealed by sewing. The packaged products are stored in the finished product warehouse.

 

Finished Product

Indicators of finished organic fertilizer: organic matter ≥ 30%, total nutrients (N+P₂O₅+K₂O) ≥ 4%. Depending on the raw materials and product type, the process design will vary.

Animal manure and agricultural waste are recycled as the main raw materials, thus manure or dung waste is not only creating economic benefits for the enterprise, but also making a great contribution to environmental projects for mankind.

Organic fertilizer raw materials refer to the raw materials required for the production of organic fertilizer. Commonly used natural fertilizer varieties include green manure, human excrement, manure, compost, retting fertilizer, biogas fertilizer and waste fertilizer.

There are many organic fertilizer raw materials, which can be divided into the following categories:

  • Agricultural waste: such as straw, soybean meal, cotton meal, mushroom residue, biogas residue, fungus residue, lignin residue, etc.
  • Livestock and poultry manure: such as chicken manure, cattle, sheep and horse manure, and rabbit manure;
  • Industrial waste: such as distiller's grains, vinegar grains, cassava residues, sugar residues, furfural residues, etc.;
  • Domestic waste: such as kitchen waste;
  • Urban sludge: such as river sludge, sewer sludge, etc. Comprehensive classification of organic fertilizer raw materials in China: mushroom residue, kelp residue, phosphorus citric acid residue, cassava residue, furfural residue, amino acid humic acid, oil residue, shell powder, etc., and peanut shell powder, etc.
  • Development and utilization of biogas slurry and biogas residue. Biogas slurry and biogas residue have many functions such as fertilizing fields and improving soil, preventing diseases and pests, and increasing yields.

The location of the organic fertilizer production line is very important. Taking into account the environmental protection and impact during the transportation and fermentation of raw materials for organic fertilizer production, the following principles should be followed when selecting the location of an organic fertilizer factory:

  1. Terrain:
    Fertilizer plants should be built on high, dry, flat, well-drained land and at least above the local historical flood line. The groundwater level should be below 3M to avoid the threat of flooding during the rainy season.

    The on-site area can be determined according to the management model and factory; it includes processing workshops, fermentation workshops, raw material warehouses, and finished product warehouses; the layout is determined according to the actual situation, and the layout is compact and reasonable.
  2. The organic fertilizer factory should not be too far from the breeding farm:
    Chicken manure, pig manure, cow manure, duck manure and other livestock and poultry manure from farms are large in size and have high water content, making them inconvenient to transport. If the distance is too far, the transportation cost of the organic fertilizer factory will be too high.

    Plants should not be planted in the upwind direction, otherwise they will be easily infected with diseases and make it difficult for plants to prevent epidemics.
  3. Away from residents' living and working areas:
    Organic fertilizer production lines will produce odorous gases during the production process and should not appear in residents' living and working areas, nor should they become the focus of living and working areas.
  4. Close to the main raw material production areas:
    Reducing transportation costs and transportation pollution.
  5. Social connections: Social ties refer to the connections between the fertilizer factory and the surrounding society.

    Therefore, the location of an organic fertilizer production line must comply with social and public health standards so that the fertilizer plant will not become a source of pollution to the surrounding environment and will not be polluted by the surrounding environment. Therefore, fertilizer plants should be kept away from residential areas.
  6. Convenient water and electricity supply:
    The impetus for building an organic fertilizer plant is industrial power. Under normal circumstances, the application of the transformer needs to meet the consumption of the motor with a load of 200-300kw. However, the water consumption in the production process of organic fertilizer is very small, as long as there is normal residential water use.

As an organic fertilizer production line that can operate normally, the water source and power supply must be able to be supplied normally; water regulation in the fermentation workshop and granulation in the processing workshop require sufficient and regular water supply.

In order to meet the needs of production and processing, complete sets of processing equipment and some single machines also need stable power supply.

The planning and construction of organic fertilizer plants generally have the following characteristics:

  • The office area should be as far away from the fermentation site as possible, and the public assistance area should be upwind; the fermentation raw material feed channel is independent, remote, and separated from the main channel of the enterprise.
  • The fermentation raw material may be feces, and the odor source enters and exits the factory gate all day long, which is very inappropriate .
  • The employee living area is separated from the fermentation site; the raw material area, fermentation equipment area, semi-finished product aging area, deep processing area and finished product area should be continuous and not far apart.
  • In addition, there are two main links in the production of organic fertilizer, namely the pre-fermentation process and the deep processing and granulation process. The raw material fermentation process occupies a large area, and the fermentation method and fermentation equipment can be flexibly selected according to the purchased land area and investment funds.

The biggest difference between the organic fertilizer production line and the inorganic fertilizer production line is that the raw materials for the production of inorganic compound fertilizers are chemical raw materials nitrogen and phosphorus.

The raw material for organic fertilizer production is organic raw material, and the fermentation part is required for pre-processing, while inorganic compound fertilizer does not, so the equipment part of the organic fertilizer production line only needs to add the fermentation part in the early stage. The equipment in the early fermentation part includes a compost turner, forklift silo, screening machine, semi-wet material crusher and belt conveyor.

The inorganic fertilizer production line is also called the compound fertilizer production line. The main raw materials are the chemical raw materials nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Because of their different granulation methods, the configuration of the compound fertilizer production line is different depending on the production content and production content.

The main equipment includes the batching system, crushing system, and granulation system, drying system, cooling system, screening system, coating system, automatic packaging system, conveyor and auxiliary equipment (fans, dust removal systems and heating systems, etc.)

The main granulation methods include disc granulator, drum granulation, transfer steam granulation, converted urea melt spray granulation, ammonium acid granulation, ammoniation granulation, etc.

In order for customers to avoid waste in factory planning and equipment investment in the early stage, plan rationally, reduce investment, and put into production smoothly; Obtain the best high-quality fertilizer in production technology and fertilizer formula technology; obtain better results in management and sales benefit.

In order to better understand organic fertilizers and market prospects, make precise investments and quickly enter profit mode.

There are various raw materials for organic fertilizer production line. In the early stage, organic fertilizer raw materials need to be fermented. There are many factors that affect the fermentation effect, among which the more important ones are the following.

  1. Moisture content:
    The moisture content of aerobic compost materials is generally maintained at 45-65%. If the water content is too large, the oxygen in the gaps between materials cannot meet the oxygen demand of microorganisms; if the water content is too small, the fluidity of soluble organic matter will become poor, preventing the supply of nutrients to microorganisms.
  2. Oxygen amount and temperature:
    The actual ventilation time of aerobic composting is controlled based on the pile temperature measurement. In the early stage, the number of times of turning the pile can be reduced to help increase the pile temperature.
    When the temperature rises to about 70 degrees Celsius, the pile should be turned in time to prevent the pile temperature from exceeding 70 degrees Celsius. When temperatures are above 70 degrees Celsius, microorganisms are in a spore state and their activity is almost zero.
  3. pH value:
    During the composting process, the Ph value of the material will change with the different fermentation stages, but it has the ability to adjust itself. Ph value between 5 and 8 has no effect on compost. If it deviates from this range, the materials must be adjusted, such as blending into finished compost. The Ph value at the end of composting is almost always around 8.5.
  4. C/N ratio:
    Generally controlled at around 25. If it is not suitable, other materials should be added for adjustment.

Generally speaking, most organic fertilizer factories require laboratory testing equipment. At the beginning of the construction of an organic fertilizer plant, the design of the organic fertilizer laboratory should be taken into consideration in the planning stage.

In actual production work, many departments and agencies will conduct organic fertilizer testing, such as organic fertilizer manufacturers, third-party testing agencies, market supervision departments, agricultural input dealers, agricultural technology service stations, scientific research universities, etc. So what are the requirements for organic fertilizer testing? What instruments, glassware, and reagents are needed?

Generally, the instruments and equipment required for organic fertilizer testing are divided into four categories:

  1. Sampling equipment

    Sampling equipment is relatively simple and relatively cheap. It is mainly an organic fertilizer sampler. There are many specifications to choose from. The general length is 1 meter and the diameter is 25mm. The operation is relatively simple and will not be described in detail.

  2. Sample pre-processing equipment

    As an important part of organic fertilizer testing, sample pretreatment involves a lot of equipment and testing steps. Once errors or large deviations occur in this step, the testing results will be directly affected. Pre-processing includes sample grinding, screening, drying, weighing, dissolving, reaction, display and other steps.

    The instruments involved are: sample crusher, constant temperature drying oven, sample dividing machine, balance, electric furnace, water bath, standard sieve , distilled water, reciprocating oscillator, etc., which involve a lot of equipment and take a long time to detect.

  3. Testing instruments

    Testing instruments are the core instruments and equipment of the entire testing process and are also crucial to the entire testing. Therefore, it is recommended that users choose to purchase from powerful manufacturers and brands. Common testing instruments are mainly organic fertilizer rapid testers, acidimeters, organic fertilizer moisture meters, etc.

  4. Reagents

    Generally, the instrument comes with a standard configuration of reagents: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and a complete set of organic matter. Trace elements, heavy metals, etc. can be selected according to different user needs. The reagents are labeled and named with Roman numerals.

    This is mainly to facilitate the user to perform step-by-step assay operations according to the instrument instructions. . Theoretically, each set of reagents can be used by users for more than 100 tests, which greatly reduces the cost of testing.
