OVERVIEW

The customer is from Congo. Since he was investing in a wood pellet processing project for the first time, he chose a small capacity wood pellet manufacturing plant project of 1-1.2t/h. This is a standard pellet line for small scale wood pellet production, non-customized design, the customer's raw materials are various wood waste, wood blocks and sawdust, and the required wood pellet size is 6-8mm. This project has 4 employees, annual production of 250 days, one shift, 8 hours per shift.

At present, we have built wood biomass pellet production line projects in more than 10 African countries, including South Africa, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Uganda, Senegal, Nigeria, etc. The raw materials used in these projects are very rich. In addition to the most common wood waste (sawdust, wood chips, logs, wooden pallets), they also include straw, grass, rice husks, palm shells and other agricultural and forestry wastes. Construction content and scale

The small wood pellet plant in Congo project uses idle land, and the factory, office area and dormitory have been built. The project covers an area of ​​about 17 acres (1333m2), mainly equipped with a biomass pellet production line, with an annual output of 2,500 tons of biomass environmentally friendly pellet fuel.

Process design

  1. The raw materials of the small wood pellet plant in Congo project come directly from the customer's timber mill, with a moisture content of ≤20%. After the raw materials are collected, they are piled in the raw material area for standby use, and the sawdust is directly sent to the pelletizer by the conveyor belt.
  2. Drying: The biomass pellet burner is used to burn biomass pellets for heating. The heat generated by the combustion enters the drying cylinder to dry the materials with high water content, so that their moisture content is reduced to less than 5%. The dried materials enter the pelletizing process.
  3. Granulation: The coarse powder material is fed into the extrusion bin of the biomass pellet machine from the feed hopper, and the crushed material is squeezed into the inner hole of the mold by the pressure roller. The mold is hot extruded and formed. During the extrusion process, the friction of the material generates heat, which is about 40°C. The extruded pellet is cut into cylindrical particles at the exit of the pelletizer. The whole process is physical extrusion molding without adding any binder.
  4. Packaging: After the cooling and screening process, the prepared particles are directly packaged and sold.

General layout design

According to the information provided by RICHI engineers, during the design process of production line layout, we try to make reasonable use of the plant area, so that each area is reasonably and compactly arranged, which is convenient for production operation and production management, while ensuring the logistics capacity and simplicity of the production line. The small wood pellet plant in Congo project is divided into production area, office and living area.

The production area is arranged from south to north, with the raw material area, pelletizing area and finished product area located to the east of the pelletizing area. The project office area is located in the southwest of the production area, and the living area is located in the northeast of the production area.

From the overall layout of the entire building, the functional areas of this project are clearly divided, the production area and the office and living area are separated, and the project production has little impact on the office and living area.

  1. ‌Raw material collection and storage‌: Utilize Congo's rich wood resources to collect sawdust, wood chips and other raw materials to ensure a stable supply of raw materials.
  2. ‌Crushing and drying‌: The wood is crushed into sawdust by a wood crusher, and then the sawdust is dried using a dryer to meet the needs of subsequent pelletizing.
  3. Pelletizing‌: The dried sawdust is fed into a pelletizer and made into pellets by extrusion molding.
  4. Packaging and storage‌: Finally, the pellets are packaged for easy storage and transportation.

The degree of automation of the entire wood pellet mill line can be adjusted according to specific needs, and corresponding equipment is available from small household production lines to large industrial production lines. For example, a small household production line can produce up to 300 kilograms per hour, while a large production line can produce more than 10 tons per hour.

The cleanliness of the raw materials you are using for pallet production will always determine the quantity of pellets you will produce. The higher the cleanliness of the raw materials being used the more biomass pellets you get from the raw materials. Therefore make sure you always use clean raw materials.

There is a very thin line between the moisture content in the raw materials and the biomass pellet plant production output. The acceptable moisture content is between 8% to 15% and as much as drying can leave the materials completely dry, make sure you always maintain the content between this range. The higher the moisture content the raw materials have the lower the pellets you will get from them.
